Designed, drawn, and cut by hand by me with a scalpel, this special one of a kind papercut is presented in a wooden frame suspended between two sheets of glass.
The lacewing (named after its intricate lace-like wings), is a stunningly beautiful little creature and a mighty garden predator.
In the design, I've encircled the lacewing with one of its favourite plants - cosmos.
I've cut the cosmos flowers in a lace-like style to compliment the lacewing's name, and the crescent moon represents lacewings' mainly nocturnal nature as well as a play on the word 'cosmos' regarding the flowers - tying them with the moon.
Framed securely in a floating style between two panes of glass, this papercut is very versatile in its appearance depending on where it's displayed. The shadows it creates alone, change as often as the light does, while the papercut itself appears to illuminate in direct sunlight.
