Oak leaf and green amber gemstone pendant handmade in mixed metal, sterling silver and copper. A gorgeous woodland nature pendant representing strength, endurance power and good fortune.
The pendant is handmade in my home studio in Glasgow, and inspired by the great strength and endurance of the oak tree. Ancient Celts observed the oak's massive growth and impressive expanse. They took this as a clear sign that the oak was to be honored for its endurance, and noble presence. Wearing oak leaves was a sign of special status among the Celts. Green amber is the gemstone of good fortune.
The leaf is pierced out from copper sheet using a hand drawn template and soldered to the sterling silver disc along with the bezel for the green amber cabochon gemstone. The pendant is then cleaned oxidised tumbled and a final polish showing low and highlights before setting the green amber gemstone in place.
The pendant measures approximately 2.2 cm diameter ( 3 cm including the bale), hangs from a sterling silver chain and comes beautifully packaged in a recycled gift box.
