These small wooden incense cone holders are handmade in central Scotland, a short distance from the famous Kelpies. I have inlaid old British half-pennies as the burning plates.
They measure approximately 4cm across and the half penny is 2.5cm in diameter.
The wood species is beech, one of our common native hardwoods. It is light in colour with little streaked speckles. I cut out the shape and inlaid the coin by hand before sanding everything nice and smooth and finishing with a little linseed oil.
To clean the coin after burning an incense cone, a little solvent on some cotton wool will lift the tar. Just make sure all trace of solvent has gone before relighting any cones.
If you want a specific date, coin, wood species or finish, please message me and I'll see what I can do.
